Antique miniature bronze FERAL HOG / PIG & BOY circa 1870s

Description

A remarkable miniature solid bronze figure of boy restraining a feral hog - what appears to be a hound and a shepherd - in combat.  This was acquired in a group of 3 figures with one of those figures marked Rogers & Smith of New Haven, Connecticut, however this particular figure has no markings that I could find.  Measures 2 and 3/4 inches tall x 3 and 1/8 inches long with rich dark patina and minor wear but no breaks, damage,  or repairs.  The hog has noticeable hair and more resembles a wild boar however feral domestic hogs often possess such qualities and probably a reflection of the era that this was sculpted.  Not sure what the artist had in mind as the boy has a length of braided rope looped around the tail of the hog which doesn't seem an effective way of restraining it but the hog is lunging forward in protest.   As a long time collector I have never seen anything similar to this and the quality is a piece of nostalgic beauty in art and interesting conversation piece.
